POPCON will play host to top celebrities from diverse industries, including international studios such as Marvel and Disney. Anchoring POPCON is the “Fiesta De Los Muertos”, where everybody is encouraged to show up as their favorite hero or villain. Both festivals will bring together some of the biggest Hollywood stars and music acts in the world and boast a program comprising of live concerts, performances, special appearances, workshops and talks with some of most well respected and renowned names and brands in each field.


Theo Rossi

Theo Rossi is an actor, producer and philanthropist best known for his portrayal of Juan Carlos “Juice” Ortiz on the FX #1 hit series Sons of Anarchy. His production company, Dos Dudes Pictures, produced its first feature film in 2014, Bad Hurt, which Rossi also stars in alongside Karen Allen (Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark) and Michael Harney (Orange is the New Black, True Detective). Rossi studied acting at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York.

Throughout his acting career, Rossi has showcased his versatility starring in a multitude of hit television shows such a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Hawaii Five-O, Lost, Las Vegas, The Unit, Jericho, Bones, without a Trace, Veronica Mars, NYPD Blue, CSI: Miami, Lie to Mie and has recurred on Heist, American Dream, Grey’s Anatomy and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. His Film credits include Bad Hurt, Cloverfield, Codebreakers, House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim, Red Sands, The Informers, Kill Theory, Fencewalker and Meth Head.

Rossi’s latest projects include the untitled “Lowriders” pic from Universal and Blumhouse opposite Demian Bichir, the Screen Gems film, “When The Bough Breaks” opposite Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall and the Marvel series “Luke Cage” for Netflix.


Randy Couture

As a 6-time World Champion and Hall of Famer in the fastest growing sport in the world, Randy Couture is a true icon in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In addition to his stellar standing in combat sports, Randy is also a successful business man, best-selling author and actor. Brianna Hildebrand

Brianna can currently be seen in the Fox feature film DEADPOOL, which broke the record for the highest opening R-rated film in history. She also stars in FIRST GIRL I LOVED, Kerem Sanga’s follow up to THE YOUNG KIESLOWSKI. It premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and won the Audience Award in the Next category.


Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana Rancic, winner of the Fan Favourite Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards, celebrity TV host, designer, entertainment journalist, author, fashion and beauty expert will be the face of PopCon, hosting various beauty panel discussions.

In 2005, Rancic was named anchor of E! network’s E! News. On March 13, 2006, she was joined by co-anchor Ryan Seacrest.

Additionally, she co-hosts E!’s Fashion Police and often co-hosts red carpet events for award shows, such as the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. She is the creator and executive producer of MTV’s Celebrity Rap Superstar, which premiered in 2007. She and her husband, Bill Rancic, star in the reality-television show Giuliana and Bill which aired on E! She appeared in the movie Bring It On: Fight to the Finish in a brief scene. Rancic also has hosted the Miss USA and Miss Universe beauty pageants on NBC.

Rancic won the 2014 Daytime Emmy Award for Fan Favorite. In 2013, Giuliana launched her clothing line, G by Giuliana, on HSN, a hugely successful line on HSN.

Whilce Portacio

Bishop (of Uncanny X Men) creator WHILCE PORTACIO broke into the comics industry by inking Marvel Comics’ classic book Longshot in 1985. Quickly he became a sought-after inker at Marvel, then proved that he was more than ready to headline as a penciler on The Punisher in 1988.

In 1990, Whilce’s artwork and popularity would reach a new turn with his triumphant work on X Factor and Uncanny X Men. He was given the chance to create his own character for “X-Men” and created Bishop (who recently headlined the movie “X Men: Days of Future Past”).

Whilce was also a co-founder of the Image Comics, an American comic book publisher founded in 1992 by seven high-profile illustrators. At Image, Whilce launched “Wetworks” and released the successful independent book Stone (based on Filipino myths).

In 1996, he returned to Marvel to draw “Heroes Reborn: Iron Man” followed by X Force. In 2000, Whilce signed up with DC Comics and released the second run of Wetworks and worked on Batman Confidential, Authority, Stormwatch and Batman/Superman.

To date, Whilce has returned working independently for Image, Marvel and DC. He did Spawn, Artifacts, Hulk, Journey Into Mystery, Uncanny X Men and graced various Marvel covers and has launched his new creator-owned book called Non-Humans for Image with Glen Brunswick (writer of new Line Cinema’s Frequency) and a new scifi book from this team is due this year.


Jason Palmer

Best known for his Illustration art of Firefly, Star Wars, Once upon a Time and Indiana Jones.

Jason began working in the comic book industry in 1990 painting covers for Star Trek. Since then, he’s worked as an illustrator on a vast variety of projects, including art for TV shows, story boards, concept work, collectibles, art for companies such as Paramount, Warner Bros, HBO, AMC, Fox, Lucasfilm and Sideshow Collectibles. His recent projects include package art for the Indiana Jones Blu-ray set and marketing concepts for HBO’s Game of Thrones. He has also developed several popular series of licensed art prints such as Firefly/Serenity with Universal Studios, Walking Dead with AMC, Castle & Once Upon a Time with ABC/Disney.


David Yardin

David Yardin has been illustrating comics professionally for 16 years. The son of Mauritian immigrants, David was born, raised, and is based in Sydney Australia.

He got his start in the industry after studying under Whilce Portacio in the Philippines in 1999. He has since had his work published by Image Comics, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Boom Studios, and Valiant Comics.

David has pencilled, inked, and coloured a variety of titles and covers, and has co-created and re-designed various characters for Marvel. He has also provided promotional artwork for The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War movies.

After a 4 year run as the regular cover artist on X-Factor, David illustrated stories for DC Comics’ Injustice: Gods Among Us and Marvel Comics’ A+X, as well as covers for Thunderbolts, Storm, Magneto, Civil War II: X-Men, and Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Five. David is currently the cover artist on Extraordinary X-Men.


Agnes Garbowska

Agnes Garbowska was born in Poland and went to Canada when she was four years old. Being an only child she escaped into a world of books, cartoons, and comics. Fuelled by all the imaginary worlds her interest in art grew.

Agnes has worked with many of the major comic book publishers, most recently illustrating such titles for My Little Pony and Jem and the Holograms for IDW, Grumpy Cat for Dynamite Entertainment, Sonic Universe Off-Panel Stripes for Archie Comics, Victories for Dark Horse and Li’l Vampi for Dynamite Entertainment. She has worked with Marvel Comics, providing artwork for Girl Comics and the Spider-Ham 25th Anniversary Special. She is also the artist for the 2014 Halloween Comic Fest comic, The Adventure of Ernie from Aspen Comics.


Miranda Davidson Studios: Casting Call

Wahid Jalal

Abdul-Wahed Zantout, better known by his stage name, Wahid Jalal, which came from his success in the title role of the 1973 police drama “Inspector Wahid,” says the greatest gift he received was his voice. Jalal got his first break in radio, where his impressive vocal range and distinctive voice made him a star, allowing him to break into television, cinema, and the world of animation, where his voice became familiar to an entire generation that grew up with the cartoons of the 1980s.

Wahid Jalal is also known for his work dubbing animated series. He lent his voice to the show theAdventures of Zeina and Nahhoul, which was a huge success with Lebanese and Arab children in the 1980s. He also lent his voice to the equally popular animated hits The Adventures of Sinbad, The Adventures of Sasuki, Treasure Island, Sandy Belle, and Maymouna and Masoud.


Julian Checkley

Julian Checkley of Order 66 Creatures and Effects

International award-winning World Record holder Julian Checkley of Order 66 Creature and Effects began his career in film and TV over 20 years ago, first as a sculptor then in the Art Department as an Art Director. However, after finding the hands on approach in the model making department more appealing, he stepped sideways into the world of creating creatures, props and prosthetic make-ups. Since then he has worked on many major feature films and iconic television programs.

Today his company Order 66 have become world renowned for their movie quality creations and photoshoots. Although Order 66 still dabbles in film work, they now cater mainly for private commissions.

One recent commission saw the creation of a Batman costume and multiple functional gadgets from the Arkham Origins video game by Warner Brothers Games. The resulting photos and videos taken by in-house cinematographer Kamil Krawczak caused quite a stir on the international cosplay scene. Inspired by this, Julian went on to create a vast array of Batman themed gadgets and now is the proud holder of a Guinness World Record for ‘The Most Functioning Gadgets on a Cosplay Suit’.

Julian has also won several titles for his costume creature creations, among them was the ‘Best in Show’ at Star Wars Celebration 2016, the world’s largest Star Wars convention.

Julian and his team are thrilled and honoured to be part of this amazing Popcon Dubai 2016 event that involves so many talented artists from around the world.


Yugana Senshi Uon

Yugana Senshi Uon, has gained much admiration and respect with her many art projects, work and lately, cosplay. In less than a year of cosplaying, she has been featured in ’ The Straits Time Singapore’ – ‘Top of the News’ during the STGCC week as a ‘Cosplay Mummy’, the HEAT’ Newspaper, ‘Borneo Post SEEDS’, many online sites such as ‘SMOSH’, ‘SCG (Sexy Cosplay Girl)’, ‘GeekXGirls’ and on TV as well.

Just Google ‘female Joker’ and you would certainly find Yugana Senshi Uon synonymous with the role. She was also an invited guest in Hobbycon 2014, Sabah. In addition to this, during the ‘Garena League of Legends 2014 Cosplay Competition’ she managed to garner the 1st runner-up spot with her rendition as ‘Orianna Sewn Chaos,’ hand sewing every item down to the wig and impressed the judges with her skill and commitment despite this being her very first time being judged on stage. Yugana will tell you she has only but begun in her expression of self and love for art through cosplay.


Sumi Cosplay

Sumi is a talented Cosplayer / actress from the Middle East. Sumi has been casted in different International variety roles. She studied Filmmaking & Acting at NYFA Abu Dhabi.
She has performed in the famous Middle East TV series, and appeared in feature & short Emirate films as the lead actress. She is also the first presenter for WEEKLY FIX IGN Middle East. In 2013 Sumi started cosplaying and has cosplayed a variety characters, with her cosplay skills & the complete portrayal of every character she cosplays, she has created quite the impact in the cosplay community. She was a cosplay judge at the IGN Convention, Games13 & FunNation Abu Dhabi event. At the start of 2015, Sumi started to take cosplay commissions & started own her own small business (SUMI COSPLAY). She is hardworking, ambitious and dedicated when it comes to acting & cosplay.


Major Lazer

Launched in 2008, Major Lazer is an American electronic music band composed of record producer Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire. It was founded by Diplo alongside his fellow “Paper Planes” producer Switch. Its music spans numerous genres, mixing reggae with dancehall, reggaeton, house, and moombahton. Major Lazer is Diplo’s outlet for his lifelong love of Jamaican dancehall music.

Major Lazer’s latest album, Peace is the Mission, was released in June 2015. Lead single “Lean On,” featuring DJ Snake and Mø, took the world by storm, becoming the most successful independently released song of all time after peaking at #1 on the Top 40 chart.

In July 2016, “Cold Water” featuring vocals from MØ and Justin Bieber was released. It quickly climbed to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 in several other countries including on the UK Official Charts.



Formed in the Summer of 2015, DNCE, which also features guitarist JinJoo Lee, bassist/keyboardist Cole Whittle, and drummer Jack Lawless, was born from Joe Jonas’s long-brewing plan to launch an offbeat pop project inspired by the melodic R&B of Earth, Wind & Fire and Hall & Oates. “I had this vision for about five or six years, but I took some time to hit the reset button and figure out what I wanted to do next,” says Jonas, whose former group the Jonas Brothers started in 2005, went on to sell more than 17 million albums worldwide, and parted ways in 2013. “Once we got going on making this new music,” he continues, “it all just fell together so perfectly.”


All Saints

All Saints (Melanie Blatt, Shaznay Lewis, Natalie & Nicole Appleton) became one of the most successful pop groups of the 1990s, with two multi-platinum albums and record sales in excess of 12 million worldwide.

2016 is set to be the year of All Saints. The band released their first new album in 10 years ‘Red Flag’ in April 2016 after two years of work in the studio. Preceded by the first single ‘One Strike’, the album is a reflection on how far the band have come both personally and musically, with intensely honest lyrics, lush production and the girls’ unmistakable harmonies.

The only thing more Mexican than Tacos is the Mariachi.

Mariachi goes beyond music – it is the sum of the cultural revolution expressed through a group of musicians ressed in beautiful costumes – the “charro”. It encompasses the essence of Mexico and its people and it is something cultural, spiritual and traditional that is unique to this country.

The Mariachis bring the party to the party with their own Mexican twist of classic pop songs and traditional Mariachi music. They maintain the unique, passionate and traditional style of the original Mariachi creating the spicy ingredient of any event or party with their cheerful, vibrant and fun loving sound.


Carla’s Dreams

Carla’s Dreams Is a Moldovan-Romanian musical project which started in 2012. The band is an anonymous group of singers and composers who sing in Romanian and English, and also in Russian recently. During concerts, the band’s vocalist, to hide his identity, wears hood and sunglasses, and his face is masked.

Carla’s Dreams combines several musical styles, including hip hop, jazz, rock and pop. The first song produced by Carla’s Dreams was Dă-te (“Get Off”). Carla’s Dreams has launched in Romania in 2013, along with Inna with the song P.O.H.U.I., later to sing with Loredana Lumea ta (“Your World”), and in 2015 with Delia, releasing songs Cum ne noi (“How We Us”) and Da, mamă (“Yes, Mother”).

Dany Neville

Award winning DJ & Radio Personality/Platinum selling Producer, Dany Neville, is the first local DJ to be noticed on an international level, which in turn helped open a gateway for other local DJs to the international music scene. He is also the first & only Local DJ to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008, held in Liverpool, an internationally acclaimed award-winning event. Having completed worldwide tours early on in his career, Dany Neville was the 1st local DJ to represent the UAE on a global platform.

Earning the title of MTV Arabia’s official DJ (2007-2009), Neville has been a popular voice on national airwaves. He has booked gigs in various popular venues & clubs in the UAE & all over the world.
